First blocks are an essential part of every baby’s early years. Baby blocks are a standard part of every young baby’s first toy collection. Not to mention, blocks for babies are of the utmost importance for a baby’s learning and development. Or, these can actually be quite easy to make yourself. Soft baby blocks can also come in earth friendly options like recycled cloth or those made from organic cotton, just to name a few.
Wooden Blocks for Babies
Traditionally, wooden blocks come with letters, numbers or both imprinted on the side. As the baby grows, this can be how he or she begins to learn to spell words. Babies begin to use these small wooden building blocks to develop their coordination and refine their grasping abilities.
Stacking blocks, outlining shapes on the floor with wooden baby blocks and building things are great ways for babies to play with blocks. Then, as the baby ages and begins to approach kindergarten age, using the blocks for spelling or counting can make these toys be a great source of learning. The colors on the blocks can be a good way to teach youngsters about different color names and what happens when primary colors are combined to create other colors.
Just be careful when buying new or used blocks, or accepting hand-me-downs, that the baby blocks do not contain anything toxic or hazardous, like lead paint. Also, avoid blocks that are small enough to be a choking hazard. Otherwise, baby’s first blocks can be a perfect gift for your baby or at a baby shower.
